Military Director

Colonel Aimee L. Kominiak was born in Knoxville, Tennessee.  She graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, in 1987 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Materiel Logistics Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master’s Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Her military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Colonel Kominiak has served in a variety of positions.  Her first assignment in the Army was Platoon Leader, Logistical Support Unit, Multinational Forces and Observers, Sinai, Egypt.  In April 1989, she was reassigned to the 54th Quartermaster Company, 240th Quartermaster Battalion, Fort Lee, Virginia.  While in the unit, she served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, and deployed to both Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  After her return, she served as the Battalion Adjutant.  Following graduation from the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course in 1992, she was assigned to the 17th Corps Support Battalion, 45th Corps Support Group, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where she served as the Supply and Services Officer and Battalion S4.  In November 1994, she assumed command of the 540th Quartermaster Company.  Colonel Kominiak departed Hawaii in 1996 to attend the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, where she was awarded a Master’s Degree in Material Logistics Management.  In May 1998, she attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  Following graduation, she served as a G4 Plans Officer in the XVIII Airborne Corps, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and the Division Support Command S4, and the Executive Officer for the 307th Forward Support Battalion, 82d Airborne Division.  In 2002, she was selected to serve as the J4 for the White House Communications Agency, Washington D.C.  In her next assignment, she served as the Transformation Task Force Planner, 19th Theater Support Command, Republic of Korea.  Colonel Kominiak returned to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, in June
2005 and took command of the 725th Main Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division.  She then deployed the battalion, reflagged as the 45th Special Troops Battalion, 45th Sustainment Brigade, to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.  Following battalion command, she assumed the duties of the Secretary General Staff, United States Army Pacific.  In July 2008, she was selected to serve as a Military Assistant/Trip Coordinator, Office of the Secretary of Defense.  She subsequently attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in June 2011, and was awarded a Master’s Degree in National Resource Strategy.  In July 2011, she took command of the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade, Fort Lee, Virginia.  Most recently, she served as the Military Assistant to the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Colonel Kominiak’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with five oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Multinational Forces and Observers Medal, the Presidential Support Badge, the Office of the Secretary of Defense Identification Badge, and the Senior Parachutist, Air Assault and Rigger badges.
